Dual Monitor setup ahoy!

So a few days ago, my father brought back a 15"6 widescreen Dell LCD monitor that where he works has just had replaced. I'm not complaining - I've been needing a second screen for a while. I got used to having two screens to work on one summer and I've missed it ever since.

I've worked on 2 different computers at the same time for a while (netbook and tower) but it's nowhere near as useful as having a second screen.

Currently, I'm waiting for a VGA to DVI converter plug to arrive from Amazon so I can actually plug this monitor into my tower's onboard video. Then I have the joy of trying to set up dual monitors on XFCE (which is apparently simple but could be a total pain to do)

More usefully, my father already has a dual monitor setup and an edited xorg.conf that he's willing to share with me in order to get it working. With any luck this process will be less of a convoluted mess than expected.
